Rashid Khan not playing in BBL 2023: The Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Adelaide Strikers have been given a massive blow as their marquee overseas star Rashid Khan has pulled out of the upcoming BBL 2023/24 edition due to a back injury.
Rashid Khan is arguably the biggest overseas name in the BBL tournament in the past couple of seasons. His missing the entire BBL 13 is a massive dent to both the Strikers and the BBL tournament as the Afghanistan all-rounder draws in crowds in the stadium and on television.
Why is Rashid Khan not playing in BBL 2023?
Because of a back injury, the Adelaide Strikers cricketer Rashid Khan has pulled out from the BBL 2023-24 season. The Afghanistan leg-spinner is set to undergo minor surgery.
Rashid recently featured in the World Cup 2023 in India, where Afghanistan were in contention for a semi-final berth until the last week of the league stage, but they eventually finished 6th in the points table with 4 wins. This did ensure Afghanistan’s qualification for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Rashid was the highest wicket-taker for Afghanistan in the World Cup, with 11 wickets to his name.
