Rafinha had a nightmare season in Barcelona under Xavi in 2024. The star was rumored to be transferred from Camp Nou by the end of the year. But as Xavi got Sacked and Hansi Flick took the throne, everything changed.

Rafinha told that it as Flick who made him stay a the club as he was seriously considering leaving.
“I was thinking about leaving Barça after the Copa América,” Rafinha said.“I wasn’t feeling mentally comfortable until Flick called me. Every day, there were rumors about me signing for one team or another. Things didn’t go as they should have; I had a worse season than expected, and I saw people asking me to leave while reports of my departure surfaced daily. I seriously considered leaving”, he told Globo Esporte.
“Hansi Flick called me and asked me to come to training before making a decision because he wanted to talk to me and counted on me. That was a turning point in my decision to stay”.
“I spoke with my wife and told her: If this man is fair and sees the effort I put into training, I’ll make him want me in a week, and he won’t regret it. And I think I was right”.
That aged marvelously as Rafinha peaked in his form in the 2024-25 season and became their best player of the season. The Brazilian continues his form for his national team as he scored a goal in Brazil’s latest win against Columbia in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers.
Barcelona are top of the La Liga standings with 60 points, only ahead of Real Madrid with goal difference.
