Rachin Ravindra POTT For Champions Trophy 2025: New Zealand Cricket Team all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has been named the Player of the Tournament of the ICC Champions League 2025 despite his team losing in the final against India.
The India vs New Zealand CT 2025 final took place in the Dubai International Stadium today and saw the Kiwis win the toss and choose to bat first on this spin-friendly track. They scored 251 on a challenging pitch despite a rapid start. That start, which saw New Zealand score 69 runs in the powerplay, was mostly down to Rachin getting a good start to his inning while opening alongside Will Young.

Both teams also played four spinners each. And while India’s array of spin consisted of full-time bowlers like Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel, for New Zealand, their spin lineup had two full-quota bowlers in Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell, while Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips are part-time tweakers at best.
Rachin had a decent showing in this final, giving his team a fine start with 37 runs in 29 balls before getting out to an absolute dime of a delivery by Kuldeep Yadav. He also had a decent outing with the ball, bowling a 10-over spell of 1/47, dismissing Player of the Match and Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
This, coupled with his stellar tournament, resulted in Ravindra being named the Player of the Tournament for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. So, how did his tournament fare?
In the opening game of the competition against Pakistan in Group A, the 25-year-old did not play. In the next game against Bangladesh, he was brought into the playing XI in place of Devon Conway and scored 112 runs in Rawalpindi. The third and final group game against India saw him get out for six runs but take the wicket of Axar Patel.

Rachin’s golden hour in CT 2025 came in the semifinal against South Africa, where he scored 108 runs, took Aiden Markram’s wicket, and was named the Player of the Match. We have already discussed his performance in the final.
Combining all that, Rachin Ravindra scored 263 runs at an average of 65.75 and scored two centuries. This made him the highest run scorer in the competition and winner of the Golden Bat. He also took three wickets in the four matches he played.
This was enough to name the young all-rounder the Player of the Tournament for the Champions Trophy. His recent exploits are not only good news for the New Zealand Cricket Team, who might have found their new superstar, but also for the Chennai Super Kings, who will start their IPL 2025 campaign on March 23 and have Rachin in their squad.
