Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has married Hyderabad-based techie Venkata Datta Sai in a private event in Udaipur on the night of December 22. The ceremony was a traditional Telugu one.
Sindhu needs no introduction. She is the only badminton star in India to have won two Olympic medals, a silver in Rio 2016 and a bronze in Tokyo 2020. Apart from that, she has won countless tournaments, including being a former world champion.

The badminton star tied the knot with Venkata Datta Sai, who is a tech businessperson based in Hyderabad, Sindhu’s hometown. Datta is currently the executive director at Posidex Technologies, a company that specialises in customer intelligence and data management, leading global partnerships and marketing.
The ceremony was attended by close friends and family of the bride and the groom. While the official photos of the marriage are not out yet, a glimpse of the event is currently going viral on social media.
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who is the Union Minister of Culture and Tourism and a Member of Parliament from Jodhpur, attended the ceremony. He took to social media to share a picture of PV Sindhu and Venkata Datta’s marriage ceremony.

“Pleased to have attended the wedding ceremony of our Badminton Champion Olympian PV Sindhu with Venkatta Datta Sai in Udaipur last evening and conveyed my wishes & blessings to the couple for their new life ahead,” he wrote in his post.
The wedding festivities began on December 20 with a Sangeet ceremony, followed by Haldi, Pellikuthuru, and Mehendi on the 21st. Finally, the main ceremony took place on December 22,
As can be seen in the picture, Sindhu wore a cream-coloured saree, while her now-husband wore a matching sherwani.
Sindhu’s father said that the families have known each other for a long time; however, the wedding arrangements were made within a month, with the date being decided strategically by the couple, as PV Sindhu is set to return to her international badminton circuit from January 2025.
