Two-time Olympic medalist and former Badminton World Champion PV Sindhu has her eyes set on one thing and one thing only: winning her third Olympic medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Sindhu is one of the most prolific Indian athletes of all time. Her accolades are far too many to count. Several Asian and Commonwealth Games medals are only overshadowed by multiple medal finishes in the World Championships and her one silver and one bronze medal, which came in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, respectively, in the women’s singles.
Sindhu is currently ranked 12th in the world in the single’s category. So far, 2024 has not been the greatest for her. While most of her finishes didn’t even see her make it into the top four, her best one came at the Malaysia Masters, where she lost in the final to China’s ZY Wang.
The Olympic medalist’s most recent appearance came at the Indonesia Open, where she was defeated in the first round by Taiwan’s W. Hsu.

Despite that, V Sindhu claims she is now prepared for the 2024 Paris Olympics after having learned from her recent failures in a recent media interaction organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The 28-year-old had this to say about her preparation and goals:
“You need to be smart and really work hard. I feel like getting there. Not overconfident, but definitely wiser and smarter, and hoping to win another medal. It is not impossible to win my third medal in the Olympics. I have learned a lot from my mistakes in the recent past. I have to give my 100 percent. Each and every game is crucial, and I don’t want to focus only on winning a medal. I will have to play at my best for sure.”
Sindhu then went on to say that the Olympics are very different from any other event or tournament in the world, as the whole world is present there and there is more time to prepare.

“I have learned to be a lot more patient, especially from the Asian circuit before this Olympics. There would be no more short-duration matches, no more expectation of easy points, and no match being considered over, despite having a big lead, till the match is actually won. Olympics is a different kind of challenge, though it gives you more time to prepare, unlike other major Super Series events,” she said.
The Paris Olympics 2024 will commence on Friday, July 26 and come to an end 16 days later, on August 11.
