Predicting 4 Semi-Finalists Of Champions Trophy 2025:
Group A:
Group A consists of India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.
India are the firm favorite to top the group, while Bangladesh have the least chance of qualifying for the semi-finals from this group.
Despite Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, India have a squad that boasts of high quality and experience. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli looked in good touch against England, while India will look to rule the tournament on the back of their spinners. They are a strong contender to lift the title as well.
Among Pakistan and New Zealand, we back the Kiwis to go through to the semi-finals solely on their current form. They recently won the tri-series in Pakistan, en route defeating Pakistan twice, including in the final, and also South Africa in the group stage.
Group B:
Group B includes Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan.
Australia are a depleted unit with five key players players – Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, and Marcus Stoinis – not available for this tournament due to injuries and other reasons. Barring Stoinis, the other four of the missing group are first-choice players. Their backups are either not in form or do not possess similar quality and experience.
Further, England are in underwhelming ODI form as well, having lost three ODI series in a row, and being whitewashed 3-0 recently in India. England’s white-ball cricket has failed to lift themselves back since their league-stage exit at the 2023 World Cup.
This is a group of death and we back South Africa and Afghanistan to go through. Both these teams are having their golden generation at hand currently and did superbly in the last two ICC tournaments. Afghanistan were one victory away from reaching the semi-finals of the 2023 World Cup and reached the semis of the T20 World Cup 2024, while the Proteas lost the semi-final in the 2023 WC and the final in the 2024 T20 WC.
Afghanistan players have immense experience in the conditions the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be played. They are expected to produce entertaining performances in this competition.
