Players Set To Miss IPL 2024: The Indian Premier League is the biggest franchise cricket tournament in the world. The tournament saw the most amount of world-class players compete for the biggest paychecks in front of the largest fan bases in the world.
Missing out on playing in the IPL is a massive blow for any cricketer. But some players are put into the position of missing it each year. Here are six players who will be missing IPL 2024 due to several different reasons –

1) Mohammed Shami
The highest wicket-taker of the 2023 Cricket World Cup has been out of action since the tournament due to an ankle injury. He recently underwent surgery in London and has been ruled out from the tournament completely.
Shami has been too valuable for Gujarat Titans and their success in the past two years. He even won the Purple Cap for most wickets in IPL 2023. With the team losing their captain Hardik Pandya, the loss of Mohammed Shami might prove disastrous for last year’s runner-ups.

2) Devon Conway
Devon Conway was the third-highest run scorer in IPL 2023 and the highest for champions Chennai Super Kings. Being a standout performer for the champions raises a player’s stock. Devon Conway would have gone into IPL 2024 as one of the most hyped players in the tournament.
Last month, he suffered a thumb injury while fielding against Australia. A recent injury has sidelined him for eight weeks. The Kiwi might join CSK in the latter portions of the tournament, but he is set to miss a large part of the upcoming IPL.
3) Mark Wood
Mark Wood has been associated with the Lucknow Super Giants for the past two years. After missing the 2022 season entirely, he joined the squad for 2023, only to be sidelined after four matches.
But in those four matches, he looked lethal, taking an impressive 11 wickets. Suffice it to say, the LSG fans were excited to see Mark Wood play a full IPL season in 2024, only to see him being withdrawn by the ECB due to workload management.
LSG have named the latest West Indies sensation Shamar Joseph as the replacement for Mark Wood.

4) Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna will miss his second consecutive IPL season in a row after undergoing surgery on his quadriceps tendon. Last season, Rajasthan brought in Sandeep Sharma as Krishna’s replacement and might just play him in the XI this season as well.
Krishna, who has been a semi-regular part of the Indian squad for the past year, was injured while representing Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy.
5) Jason Roy
Jason Roay played only half a season of IPL last year for the Kolkata Knight Riders and was arguably the best batter for the side. The Englishman, like many of his fellow countrymen, has pulled out of IPL 2024, citing personal reasons.
Phil Salt, who played for the Delhi Capitals in 2023, will be replacing Roy for KKR.
6) Harry Brook
Harr Brook pulled out of England’s recent Test tour to India to be with his family. Having been bought by Delhi Capitals for IPL 2024, he admittedly was looking forward to setting the tournament ablaze.
In a statement he released on Instagram, Brook revealed the passing of his grandmother, whom he was very close to. The personal reasons for being with his family will make him miss the 2024 season of the IPL.
