PKL 2025 Playoffs Explained: Pro Kabaddi League 2025 is in its endgame now, meaning we are less than a week away from crowning a new champion. In comparison to previous seasons, when only six out of 12 teams made it to the postseason, a whopping eight teams have qualified for the playoffs this time around.
Each team played 18 games. And after the full season, 66% of the teams, that being 8 out of 12, have qualified for the playoffs and have a chance to compete for the gold. But with so many teams aiming for the title, the playoffs for PKL 2025 can be difficult to comprehend for those trying to understand them.
PKL 2025 Playoffs Explained
Today, we will explain how the Pro Kabaddi League 2025 playoffs work, which teams will have more than one chance of making it to the final, and how many matches will be played in said playoffs. All the post-season matches will be played at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi.
Firstly, we should mention all eight teams that finished in the top eight. Puneri Paltan and Dabang Delhi finished first and second and have the greatest chance of making it into the final. Bengaluru Bulls, the team with the best points difference, finished third, while Telugu Titans were in fourth.
The remaining teams, those ranked fifth to eighth, will have the toughest road to the trophy. These teams are Haryana Steelers, U Mumba, Patna Pirates, and Jaipur Pink Panthers in that order.
First up, the play-ins, which will eliminate two out of the bottom four-ranked teams in this playoff. These will be played on October 25. The first one will see the 5th-ranked Steelers take on the 8th-ranked Pink Panthers. Meanwhile, the second will see the 6th-ranked U Mumba take on the 6th-ranked Patna Pirates. The losers of these matches will be eliminated.
Now, the playoffs will begin in earnest on October 26th. On this day, the winners of the play-ins will face off in Eliminator 1. On the same day, there will be a match called the Mini-Qualifier between the 3rd-placed Bengaluru Bulls and the 4th-ranked Telugu Titans.
While the loser of Eliminator 1 is, well, eliminated, the winner will go on to face the loser, yes, the loser of the Mini-Qualifier. This match is called Eliminator 2, and it will be played on October 27.
On the same day, Qualifier 1 is between the top two-ranked teams, those being Puneri Pantan and Dabang Delhi. The winner of this match will automatically qualify for the final, one of the perks of finishing in the top two.
Now, to take stock of where we are now. One team has qualified for the final, while the other lost the match. Meanwhile, we have a team that won the Mini-Qualifier and one that won Eliminator 2. That leaves three more teams competing for the remaining spot in the final.
First, on October 28, Eliminator 3 will be played between the winner of the Mini-Qualifier and the winner of Eliminator 2. While the loser of this match will go home, the winner will go on to play Qualifier 2 on October 29 against the loser of Qualifier 1. The winner of this match will be the second team in the final.
Speaking of the final, it will be played on Friday, October 31. It will be the last match of not only a nine-match-long playoff run but also of a tournament that has been running daily matches for the last two months.
Of the eight teams that have made the playoffs of the Pro Kabaddi League 2025, seven teams have lifted the title before, with the fourth-ranked Telugu Titans being the only exception.
