PCB sends legal notice to Corbin Bosch: Earlier this month, Bosch, a fast-bowling all-rounder from Durban with three international matches under his belt, was roped in as a replacement player by the Mumbai Indians after Bosch’s compatriot Protea pacer Lizaad Williams was ruled out of the competition due to an injury.
MI are familiar with Corbin Bosch: he was part of MI Cape Town’s title-winning SA20 2025 season last month. There, he claimed 11 wickets in seven innings at an economy rate of 8.68, helping MI win their maiden SA20 title, as they defeated defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final.
PCB sends legal notice to Corbin Bosch: Has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from PSL
The PCB released a statement on Sunday, revealing that they have taken legal action against Bosch, who was drafted in by Peshawar Zalmi as a diamond pick in the draft for the PSL 2025 season. He will have to forgo his deal with Zalmi in order to be part of the IPL.
“The legal notice was served through his agent, and the player has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from his professional and contractual commitments,” the Pakistan Cricket Board stated in a release on Sunday.
“The PCB management has also outlined the repercussions of his departure from the league and expects his response within the stipulated time frame. The PCB will not make any further comments on the matter.”
Until the time of writing, neither Bosch, Mumbai Indians, nor Cricket South Africa have made a statement yet, and it would be interesting to see how things unfold moving forward with the BCCI and PCB already at strife.
This year, the PSL is directly and wholly clashing with the IPL. The IPL will run from March 22 to May 25, and the PSL will be played in the April-May window.
Bosch is the third seam-bowling all-rounder in the Mumbai Indians’ squad along with skipper Hardik Pandya and youngster Raj Bawa.
So far in his career, the 30-year-old Bosch has featured in 86 T20s, snaring 59 wickets at an economy rate of 8.38 and scoring 663 runs at a strike rate of 113.
He’s having a good run in his career this year. Before helping MI Cape Town win the SA20, Bosch made his ODI and Test debuts last year for South Africa and was drafted into South Africa’s Champions Trophy squad as an injury replacement player.
Mumbai Indians will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign on March 23, Sunday, against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings in Chennai, and then will fly to Ahmedabad to take on Gujarat Titans on March 29. Their first home game, at the Wankhede Stadium, will be on March 31 against KKR.
