PCB Chief Fires Back At Trolls Ahead of CT 2025: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has fired back at the social media trolls who questioned whether the board would be able to complete the required stadium upgrades ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy 2025 from February 19 to March 9. The competition itself has been revived, having last been played in 2017, and saw the Men in Green win the competition. However, despite being the hosts, the defending champions will not be hosting the whole competition.
BCCI announced last year that the Indian Cricket Team would not be travelling to Pakistan for CT 2025. It was then announced that the Men in Blue would play their games in Dubai, including the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match.

However, the majority of the competition will still be played in Pakistan, more specifically in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. And with that in mind, renovations to bring these stadiums to a satisfactory level for the ICC have been underway for months. In fact, a Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test match last year was shifted from Karachi to Rawalpindi owing to these renovations.
These stadiums are now ready to host the first ICC competition on Pakistani soil since the 1996 Cricket World Cup and the first where Pakistan is the main host. There is a tri-series between Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand currently underway, the first two matches of which were played in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
With Pakistan being involved in the hosting of an ICC event, it was to the surprise of no one that several trolls on social media questioned and critiqued the country and the cricket board’s ability to be ready to host such a competition. Now, while some of these trolls would just be doing this for some laughs, some surely would be bad actors with malicious intent of spreading negativity surrounding the hosting of the Champions Trophy.

PCB inaugurated the renovated National Stadium in Karachi on Tuesday, February 11. During the inauguration event, board chief Mohsin Naqvi lashed out at the trolls who questioned the PCB and Pakistan’s ability to prepare for CT 2025. In front of a live crowd, he had this to say:
“We win, you lose. This is for those who claimed on social media that we could not complete the construction of this stadium. If we had failed to complete this, you would have won, and we were unsuccessful. However, by completing this [upgradation] project, we won, and you lose now. I admit here that Karachi stadium would look better than Lahore’s Gaddafi stadium.”
Pakistan will take on South Africa in the third match of the ongoing tri-series today in Karachi. The winner of this match would face New Zealand in the final. As for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, the first match will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi as well on February 19.
