PBKS vs DC Match Highlights And Report-IPL: Rishabh Pant made his long-awaited comeback to action in the IPL 2024, leading the Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings at the new stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. However, it wasn’t the best of the comebacks, as he managed 18 runs with the bat, and his side lost by 4 wickets.
Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and elected to bowl first. Delhi’s innings could be separated into three parts.
First, it was an aggressive start from Mitchell Marsh (20 off 12) and David Warner (29 off 21). Then, the derailment: Delhi were in a strong position at 74/1 in the 8th over, but then they kept losing wickets as Punjab bowlers fought back.
DC went from 74/1 to 147/8. Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel shared two wickets each, while Rabada, Harpreet Brar, and Rahul Chahar took a wicket each. The third part of the innings was, well, just an over, the last over, where Abishek Porel, brought on as an Impact sub in the 18th over, clobbered Harshal for 25 runs, smoking three fours and two sixes, to take DC to 174.

In the chase, Dhawan started with four boundaries but got bowled by Ishant Sharma. The lanky seamer also got Jonny Bairstow run-out for a single digit: Prabhsimran played a straight push to which Ishan got fingertips, and the ball hit the stumps while Bairstow was caught out of the non-striker’s end.
Prabhsimran, who had come on as Impact Sub, creamed five boundaries in his 17-ball 26-run knock and formed a crucial partnership of 42 (33) with Curran, before being dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav, who also soon got rid of Jitesh Sharma.
The game hung in balance when PBKS were 100/4 in the 12th over. From thereon, Curran and Liam Livingstone pulled the match toward Punjab.
Already without Anrich Nortje, Delhi were given a further injury dent when Ishant Sharma got injured mid-game after bowling two good overs. Coupled with the fact that they had used their Impact sub on a batsman while batting first, it meant that the Capitals were left with a bowler short while defending 174 on a good surface.
To cover up for Ishant’s overs, Pant used Mitchell Marsh, but the Aussie got absolutely belted by Curran and Livingstone. Marsh ended with figures of 0/52, and that proved to be the eventual difference.
Sam Curran scored 63 (47) and got out only after getting the required run rate close to six. Livingstone, who scored 38* (21), saw that there were no hiccups, and PBKS crossed the finishing line with four balls left.
Score summary: Delhi Capitals 174/9 in 20 overs (Shai Hope 33, Arshdeep Singh 2/28); Punjab Kings 177/6 in 19.2 overs (Sam Curran 63, Kuldeep Yadav 2/20). PBKS defeated DC by 4 wickets.
