Paul Scholes Reacts to Ten Hag Staying at Man Utd: Manchester United decided to give another chance to manager Eric Ten Hag, despite finishing 8th on the table. It was expected that the Red Devils would sack the Dutchman, as they were considering other names such as Thomas Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi, Mauricio Pochettino, Kieran McKenna, and Thomas Frank. As the news came out on June 12, you won’t see these names at Old Trafford for at least another year.
Paul Scholes Reacts to Ten Hag Staying at Man Utd
United legend Paul Scholes had a mixed reaction to the news. The Englishman said it was nice to wake up to the news, though he was expecting the manager to be gone after United’s humiliating 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. The 49-year-old thinks Ten Hag’s stay is good in terms of continuity, but fans deserve a lot better in terms of the results.
“Nice to wake up to this news although I did think Palace away [a 4-0 defeat] felt like the end… major improvements needed but at least we have a bit of continuity and don’t have to wait for a new regime to settle in… fans have given him and the players incredible support and deserve better next season.”
Though United fell to 8th when they finished the Premier League season, the FA Cup win and the injuries of the players might be the key reasons the owners changed their minds.
