Parag Congratulates Dhruv Jurel For Saving India A: Indian batting all-rounder Riyan Parag took to social media to congratulate his friend and Rajasthan Royals teammate Dhruv Jurel for scoring an 80 and rescuing India A in their ongoing game against Australia A.
India A is facing Australia A in an unofficial Test match in preparation for the upcoming five-Test India vs Australia Border Gavaskar Trophy. The match is being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). It was the Aussies who won the toss and decided to bowl first on a challenging pitch.
The Indians got off to a poor start, losing domestic cricket standout Abhimanyu Easwaran for a duck in the first over. Sai Sudharsan was dismissed for a duck as well on the very next ball as al-rounder and captain Nathan McSweeney took two in the first over.
KL Rahul got out in the next over, and Ruturaj Gaikwad lost and became McSerrney’s third wicket in the third over as the score was 11/4. At this point, Dhruv Jurel walked into bat.
Jurel made his national team debut at home earlier this year during the home Test series against England. A replacement for an injured Rishabh Pant, the UP-based wicketkeeper has impressed in his short time with the Indian Cricket Team so far.
Dhruv, along with Devdutt Padikkal, then worked on rescuing the inning. When Padikkal got out for 26, Jurel built a partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy, who himself scored 16 runs. At the team score of 103, India A had lost seven wickets. From here, Dhruv Jurel was on the striker’s end for the most time.
Scoring a fantastic 80 on a challenging track, the 23-year-old finally got out as India crossed 150 runs. Soon after, the team was all out for 161.
In an inning where every big-name Indian batter failed, it was Jurel who rescued India from collapsing for a two-digit score.

In response to this inning, Dhruv’s friend, fellow Rajasthan Royals player, and national teammate Riyan Parag took to Instagram to post a story congratulating the wicketkeeper. Posting a reel of Jurel playing against Australia A, Parag wrote this as the captain in his story.
“My boy, just like you planned.”
At stumps on Day One of the match, Australia A are currently 53/2 and trail by 108 runs.
Dhruv Jurel is in the 18-man India squad for the upcoming Test series against the Kangaroos. And while he has become a Test team regular, Riyan Parag has become a regular in the T20I side and was initially part of the upcoming four-match T20 series against South Africa before getting injured.
The two have also been retained by the Royals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction, with both of them receiving Rs. 14 crores.
