New Zealand Score 241 Vs India In CT 2025 Final: The New Zealand Cricket Team scored 251 runs while batting first in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final against India. This is despite them getting off to a fiery start and because India dominated the middle overs with spin.
The ongoing India vs New Zealand match is the final of CT 2025. This final is being played in the Dubai International Stadium, where India has played all their games in this competition, and the toss was won by New Zealand, who decided to bat first.
The Black Caps got off to a quick start to their inning, thrashing the pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya, scoring 37 in the first five overs. Their troubles started when Varun Chakravarthy was introduced in the sixth over and started puzzling the opening pair of Rachin Ravindra and Will Young. Then, in the eighth over, the first wicket fell, and Varun caught Young in front of the wickets, 57/1.
New Zealand scored 69 runs in the powerolay. But then, in the first ball of the 11th over, which was also Kuldeep Yadav’s first over, the wrist spinner bowled an in-form Ravindra for 37 off 29. Kane Williamson followed suit quickly after, caught and bowled by Kuldeep in the 13th over.
Suddenly, Mitchell Santner’s men were looking in trouble at 75/3. The fall of wickets also shut the batter down and slowed the run rate. In the next 11 overs, Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell only scored 33 runs before Latham became Ravindra Jadeja’s first wicket in the 24th, with the score being 108/4.

Then came a recovery of sorts. While the run rate was still very slow, Daryl Mitchell, along with Glenn Phillips, kept their wickets and kept the scoreboard ticking. Phillips scored 24 in 52 before being bowled by Chakravarthy at 165/5 in the 38th over, which brought Michael Bracewell on strike.
During this sixth-wicket partnership, Mitchell completed his half-century, took his team past the 200-run mark, and got out for 63 off 101, having anchored the innings till the near end.
With only four or so overs remaining, Bracewell picked his spots and started taking on Mohammed Shami, who was brought back into the attack for the death. He ended up scoring 53 off 40 and taking his team over the 250-run mark, as the New Zealand inning ended for 251/7 in their allotted 50 overs.
Another crucial aspect of this inning was India’s poor fielding, as at least four catches were dropped throughout the innings. And while we can criticise the Men in Blue for their butterfingers, we must also appreciate the brilliant bowling performances, especially the 38 overs bowled by spinners, as Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets each.
As for the Indian Cricket Team, they need to chase down 252 runs in 50 overs if they are to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and become the first team to win CT thrice.
