Firstly, we will look at the 15-man New Zealand squad for the upcoming tournament—

Strengths
The biggest strength of this team is the sheer experience many of its players have in playing and doing well in ICC tournaments. Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, and captain Mitchell Santner have set such tournaments alight before and might do so again.
A healthy mix of all-rounders is good for any limited-overs side. While none of the all-rounders, except Santner, will give the team 10 overs, there are several 5-over bowlers in this team—like Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, and Glee Phillips, who will more than make up for the fifth bowler and give the team a lot of flexibility.
Finally, this team is in incredible form. From winning the ODI series against a decent Sri Lanka side earlier this year to winning the tri-series against Pakistan and South Africa in Pakistan, where the Champions Trophy will be played, this team, and a lot of its players are in good form.
Weaknesses
The biggest weakness of this team is certainly their age, one of the oldest teams in this competition in terms of average age, several of the players on this side, while being quite experienced, are in the twilight of their international career. While the veteran status of the team’s most senior players might come as an advantage, we have previously seen how teams in professional sports can falter and break apart towards the end of their golden ages.
In terms of injuries, Lockie Ferguson suffered a right foot injury and is out of this competition. However, Ben Sears is not so lucky, as he will miss the Champions Trophy 2025 due to a hamstring injury.

Opportunities
With one of the most varied squads going into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, New Zealand, this team can adapt to various pitches. From flat pitches in Karachi to bowling-friendly pitches in Dubai, this team has the players to play and dominate in any conditions. Coupled with the ODI temperament of the veterans in this side and the attacking game of the young players, the BlackCaps can take good advantage of the outside factors in the tournament.
Threats
The threats to this New Zealand side are from the other teams in Group A. While the Kiwis go into CT 2025 with a fine squad, their side appears a little weak on paper when compared to the star-studded India and Pakistan squads. If all the teams in their group play to their absolute potential, it is difficult to imagine New Zealand matching up to the absolute quality of the two Asian powerhouses. However, even if it all goes terribly bad, they will still be able to defeat Bangladesh 9/10 times.
New Zealand expected playing XI:
Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham (wk), Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (C), Matt Henry, Jacob Duffy, Will O’Rourke
