Navjot Singh Sidhu Calls Rohit Sharma a Lion: Commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu has heaped praise on Rohit Sharma in his own traditional manner, using his famous poetry style. Sidhu, who is returning to IPL commentary after a long time, used the “One lion in front of 100 lambs” reference to assert the dominance of Rohit.
For the first time since 2013, Rohit Sharma will be playing in the IPL only as a batsman, as his captaincy was stripped off by the Mumbai Indians. The franchise appointed Hardik Pandya as their new skipper after trading him in from the Gujarat Titans.
Making his comeback to the Star Sports commentary panel, Navjot Singh Sidhu spoke about Rohit Sharma in grand mode.

Even though Rohit is not the captain of the Mumbai Indians anymore, he will remain the Indian T20I skipper for the T20 World Cup. Last month, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Rohit will be leading Team India in the T20 World Cup in June in the West Indies and the USA.
One of the reasons for removing Rohit Sharma as the captain, as MI head coach Mark Boucher had explained earlier, was to allow the opener to focus more on his batting. Rohit’s numbers in the IPL have been dwindling in the last few years; he has managed only three half-centuries in the last three seasons.
Rohit Sharma, who will turn 37 in April, is in the last phase of his career. Navjot Sidhu reckons aging has a direct relationship with batters failing more often than they used to at their peak.
“I am not sure about Rohit’s fitness levels. With age you tend to slow down, your reflexes tend to go. Sehwag with those glasses, his reflexes were not the same, I saw it in the IPL,”
Sidhu told PTI.
MI will begin their IPL 2024 campaign on March 24 against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
