MS Dhoni Picks His Favourite Bowler: Former India captain and current Chennai Super Kings skipper, MS Dhoni, picked Jasprit Bumrah as his current favorite bowler.
This was not at all surprising, considering Bumrah’s sensational form with the ball since his return last year from a back surgery. He’s been on fire in all three formats, and not only is Bumrah unarguably the best all-format fast bowler in the world right now, he is arguably the best bowler in each format as well.
Bumrah’s legacy, which already included two Border-Gavaskar Test series wins in Australia and multiple IPL trophies, was cemented as he helped India lift the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy in West Indies. Bumrah was named the Player of the Tournament for his sensational bowling efforts throughout the tournament. He bagged 15 wickets and maintained an enviable economy of 4.17.

Recently, Dhoni attended an event for a shoe company where he was asked about his favorite bowler and batsman in the world right now.
Without skipping a beat, Dhoni promptly took Bumrah’s name as his current favorite bowler. He didn’t, though, mention his favorite batter, explaining that there are multiple good batters going around.
Dhoni said, “Current favourite, it’s easy to pick a bowler since Bumrah is there. It’s difficult to pick a batter because we have several good batters but that doesn’t mean bowlers aren’t good. It’s difficult pick one among batters as whomever I see batting, he looks the best but then I see someone else he also looks great. As long as team India are doing fine, I don’t want to pick a batter but I hope they will keep scoring runs. However, I have picked my favourite bowler.”

Bumrah made his T20I and ODI debuts under MS Dhoni in 2016 in Australia. A few days ago, while speaking with The Indian Express, Bumrah showered praise on how Dhoni handled him and gave him security about his position in the side.
Bumrah said, “He (Dhoni) gave me a lot of security quickly. When I came to Australia, I had just taken a flight and I didn’t know anyone. How do you talk to MS Dhoni first time? You are suddenly playing a game and not practiced with the team. He is one of the guys who has a lot of faith in his instincts and doesn’t believe in a lot of planning.”
