Rishabh Pant created history on November 15, 2025, during the India vs South Africa test series. He went past Virender Sehwag’s record for the most sixes hit by an Indian in Test cricket. Pant entered the Kolkata Test against South Africa with 90 sixes and needed one more to move ahead of Sehwag. He achieved it during the morning session on the second day at Eden Gardens.

Sehwag held the earlier record with 90 sixes from 103 Tests. Rohit Sharma followed with 88, Ravindra Jadeja with 80, and MS Dhoni with 78.
Pant became the first Indian to cross the landmark and moved closer to the elite group at the global level. The overall Test record belonged to England captain Ben Stokes, who had 136 sixes in 115 Tests. He was followed by Brendon McCullum and Adam Gilchrist.
