Early on, it was not so easy for Mohammed Siraj as a cricketer. At one point in time, the cricketer even decided to quit.
“In 2019-20, I had thought I am giving myself this last year and after that, I will leave the game for good.”
Siraj also showed bits of his hometown in a video that BCCI shared. In that, the player says that the most peace he gets is when he goes to Eidgah in his village.
“As soon as I land in Hyderabad, my first thought is that I will go home. After home, I will go to Eidgah. Wherever in the world I go, I don’t get so much peace anywhere, to be honest. Whenever I go there, I get so much peace.”
Coming from a modest background, Siraj revealed his past endeavours to support his family, including a stint in catering to assist his father, the sole breadwinner at the time, who drove an autorickshaw. Recollecting his experiences, Siraj shared:
“My hands would burn as I had to flip roomali roti. But that’s okay. I have reached here after having my fair share of struggles.”
Siraj also credited tennis ball cricket for enhancing his pace and offered a motivational message to fans, stating:
“Whenever you work hard, your hard work will not go to waste. You will get it in the end, if not today or tomorrow, then the day after tomorrow or in a year or in two years or in three years, you will get the result.”
What’s Next for Siraj?
Siraj will tie his boots to bowl for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2024.
