Mohammed Shami Strikes In The First Over Vs BAN: Indian Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami struck in the first over of the match against Bangladesh in his team’s first game in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, dismissing Soumya Sarkar for a duck.
India vs Bangladesh is the first match for these two teams in CT 2025. While the tournament is primarily being played in Pakistan, this Group A match is being hosted by the Dubai International Stadium in the UAE. The reason for this is India’s involvement, as the Men in Blue will not play any matches in Pakistan.

In this Day/Night match, it was Bangladesh who won the toss and decided to bat first on this dry track. Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar came in to bat for the Bangla Tigers.
For India, there is a surprising inclusion in the playing XI. Instead of Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana will join Mohammed Shami in forming the pace duo for India.
The first over of the inning was being bowled by Shami, who recently returned to international cricket after a long spell with injury. Having only donned the blue jersey of India again in the recent T20I series against England, this is his first major appearance for India since the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The veteran pacer looked in colour in his opening over against the Bangladeshi openers, bamboozling them with his on-seam bowling and off-the-pitch movement.
After Tanzid took a run on the first ball, Shami toyed with Sarkar for the five remaining balls of the over. Then, on the final delivery, he pitched the ball well and it moved inwards. The batter looked to play it but found the inside edge which was caught by wicket-keeper KL Rahul.

This wicket brought Bangladesh Cricket Team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto to the pitch.
As for India, they will be looking to kick their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign off with a win, seeing how Pakistan was demolished in yesterday’s match by New Zealand.
