Mohammed Shami Out of 2 Tests vs England: Senior India seamer Mohammed Shami is very likely to miss the first two Test matches against England in the upcoming 5-match Test series due to his ankle injury.
India will host Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum’s side for a mouth-watering 5-Test series. The first Test will be played from January 25 in Hyderabad, followed by the second Test in Visakhapatnam from February 2.
Mohammed Shami Out of 2 Tests vs England
India are likely going to be without Mohammed Shami for at least the first couple of Tests, as reported by The India Express.
Shami had played in the World Cup 2023 with pain in his ankle. While Shami battled that pain and played throughout the World Cup, topping the bowling charts as well, the injury got worse, and he has been out of action since. The fast bowler missed the two Tests in South Africa and is now all but confirmed to be ruled out from at least the first two Tests against the Three Lions.
“Shami hasn’t even started to bowl, he will have to go to NCA and prove his fitness. He looks doubtful for the first two Tests against England,” a BCCI source told The Indian Express.

BCCI to take extra caution with injured Mohammed Shami
This has been a confusing development for the fans because Mohammed Shami had initially been named in the squad to travel to South Africa. The BCCI had seemingly been hopeful that he would get fit in time, but he was then ruled out. Now, it seems his injury is more significant than it was earlier thought to be.
The BCCI doesn’t want to rush Shami back to action and wants his injury to completely heal. India won’t be weakened by Shami’s absence against England, though. At home, India play only two pacers generally. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj can carry the workload in the first two Tests while Mukesh Kumar is likely to be the backup on the bench.
Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad is also likely to be ruled out from the first two Tests against England due to a finger injury he sustained in South Africa.
