Mohammed Shami May Not Play Against Australia: Rohit Sharma has hinted that ace pacer Mohammad Shami might not be available for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The 5 Test-match series will commence on November 22 at the Optus Stadium Perth.
Shami was expected to return for domestic cricket before the much anticipated Australian tour. But his injury, due to which he has been out of the pitch since the 2023 ODI World Cup, seems to hold him for a bit longer from playing cricket.
Mohammed Shami May Not Play Against Australia
In the latest update, skipper Rohit Sharma said that there has been a setback in Shami’s progress in recovery as the pacer found swelling on his knees. He is currently under the surveillance of ‘doctors and physios at the NCA.
“To be honest, it is difficult to make a call on him for the Australia series. He had a setback and had swelling in his knees. That put him back a little bit and had to start again. He’s at the NCA with doctors and physios. We don’t want to bring undercooked Shami to Australia. We are keeping our fingers crossed,” Rohit Sharma said, as reported by RevSportz Global.
Shami’s last tournament was the 2023 ODI World Cup where he had a spectacular run to become the leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets from just 7 matches with an economy of 5.26.
