Mohammad Kaif Picks Player To Consider For T20 WC: Cricketer-turned-commentator Mohammad Kaif has thrown down Rajasthan Royals bowler Sandeep Sharma for consideration for the upcoming T20 World Cup squad for India and says that it wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Sandeep, who was injured for the last five matches, made his return for RR’s vs Mumbai Indians, Match 38 of IPL 2024. Not only did he show that the team missed his versatile bowling, but he was also impressed with the first fifer of his IPL career.
Finishing his four-over spell with the brilliant figures of 5/18, the 30-year-old was named the Player of the Match for his contribution in stopping MI for what looked like an under-par score of 179.

Having gone unsold in the 2023 IPL auction, Sandeep Sharma was brought in by the Royals as a replacement bowler for an injured Prasidh Krishna. Since then, he has been an integral part of the team’s bowling.
Not only has Sandy been a good death bowler for the team, but has bowled all over the innings, which gives RR a lot of flexibility with their bowlers.
Following his performance against MI yesterday, some people have been calling for Sandeep Sharma to at least be considered for the India squad which will play in the 2024 T20 World Cup, starting right after IPL on June 2.
Mohammad Kaif Picks Player To Consider For T20 WC
Mohammad Kaif has now joined in this conversation, tweeting that his being in consideration for the tournament is not a bad idea, he posted this on X –
“Sandeep Sharma is easily the most underrated IPL player. Goes about his job silently, is very brainy, and a wicket-taker. 193 T20 wickets at 7.5 Economy. Not a bad idea to consider him for World T20, I think.”
Despite his brilliant performance, it is unlikely that Sandeep Sharma will be picked for the World Cup squad, as he has the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Avesh Khan ahead of him in the pecking order.
As for Rajasthan Royals, they are on top of the table following their win over Mumbai Indians with seven wins and 14 points in just eight matches. They will face Lucknow Super Giants in their next match on April 27 in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium.
