Mohammad Kaif Calls Jasprit Bumrah A Match Winner: Former Indian cricketer now commentator Mohammed Kaif has named Jasprit Bumrah the biggest match winner in Mumbai Indians, a team filled with big names and match winners.
MI took on the Delhi Capitals in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium last Sunday afternoon. Despite making a massive total, the win was not assured for MI as several Delhi batters were batting their heart out.
But it was the bowling of Bumrah, especially his wicket of an in-form Prithvi Shaw that started turning the tide back towards MI.

While he took only two wickets in the match, Jasprit only gave away 22 runs in his four overs with a measly economy of 5.5. Being this cheap while taking wickets of two attacking batters like Shaw and Abhishek Porel was crucial in defending an otherwise massive target of 235.

Mohamad Kaif felt the same way. On Star Sports, the former Indian batter claimed that despite the presence of massive names like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and captain Hardik Pandya in the team, it is Jasprit Bumrah who is the biggest match-winner in the team.
“Mumbai Indians have Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, but Jasprit Bumrah is their biggest winner. God forbids if he leaves Mumbai Indians someday, the franchise would become less impactful. Despite the presence of star batters, he is at the top of the list when it comes to rating the stars. Look at his Yorker to Prithvi Shaw. The batter tried to take his feet away from the firing line,” said Kaif –
Commenting on Bumrah’s steller performance against DC, Kaif said –
“Bumrah was accurate throughout the game and bowled sensational overs. He gave away just 22 from his quota of overs on a day when other bowlers were taken for plenty of runs. It was a high-scoring match, but it didn’t impact Bumrah.”
Mumbai Indians registered their first win in IPL 2024 by 29 runs in their fourth match. Now eighth on the table, the Indians will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their next match on April 11 in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
