Mitchell Starc Trolls His Australian Teammate: Left-arm speedster Mitchell Starc continued his excellent performances against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) from IPL 2024 as he claimed his maiden IPL five-wicket haul on Sunday against the same opposition.
Last year, Starc produced two match-winning performances for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against SRH in Qualifier 1 and final, bagging Man of the Match awards in both those big games and helping KKR lift the title.
He wasn’t retained by KKR, however, and was eventually bought by Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
In DC’s first game this season, Starc picked 3/42 against LSG, and produced an even better performance against SRH in Vizag on Sunday, returning with figures of 5/35.
He got rid of Head, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Ishan Kishan in the powerplay, and in the death overs, he dismissed Wiaan Mulder and Harshal Patel to complete his first five-for in the IPL. Starc’s five wickets helped DC restrict SRH to an under-par score of 163.
Mitchell Starc Trolls His Australian Teammate After Dismissing Him for the Sixth Time
This was the sixth time that Starc took the wicket of Head in professional T20 cricket. After picking his five-for, Starc hilariously trolled Head on the left-hander not taking the first strike anymore against him.
When Starc was asked about dismissing Head, the speedster laughingly said, “I think that’s why he doesn’t face the first ball anymore.”
Last season, after Starc bowled Head for a duck on the second ball of the Qualifier 1, Head didn’t take the strike on the first ball of the final, where Starc dismissed Abhishek Sharma then. Today as well, Abhishek took the strike on the first ball and not Head, though Starc managed to get Head in the fifth over.
Speaking about his performance, Starc added, “We know how such a powerful side Sunrisers are. We knew powerplay wickets were key. All-round, it was a fantastic performance in the first innings of this game. It’s nice to be in a new franchise.”
