Michael Chandler Wants to Fight Islam So Bad: Michael Chandler hasn’t been fighting in a while. In a while means for more than a year. His last fight ended up getting choked out by Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier in November 2022. In February 2023, he decided to coach in The Ultimate Fighter 31 against Conor McGregor, and since then, the Chandler vs McGregor fight saga has been going on. But almost for sure, his next fight will be his biggest payday, as it’s gonna be a ‘red-panty-night’ if you rent Conor’s words about what fighters will get fighting him.
When Will McGregor vs Chandler Take Place?
Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler’s fight has been under discussion at the dinner table of UFC fans for a while. The major thing that came as a barrier for this firecracker fight not to happen is Conor’s long-time layoff after the leg-break injury he subjected to in the trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in UFC 264 in July 2021. The Irishman has reportedly been cured of the terrific injury and is reportedly about to get ready for his ‘festive’ return.
‘We Have So Much in Common’
Other than losing the last fight, one more thing that they both have in common is that they got finished by the same guy, Louisiana’s Diamond. So they both are on a losing streak, and a win would be a must for both of them, especially for Chandler, as, after all, McGregor is McGregor and he will always get what he wants.

Michael Chandler Wants to Fight Islam So Bad, But After Sending the Mystic Mac to the Shadow Realm
As Conor’s return has been on the air for quite some time, the new addition to the columns is done by Chandler himself, as the man predicted finishing the Mystic Mac within two rounds. He not only said that but also took aim at the pound-for-pound king, Islam Makhachev.
“Once I finish Conor the way I think I am gonna finish him within the first two rounds, and you get on that kinda platform, get that kinda buzz, man, I just wanna fight Islam too bad.”

Unlike his previous comments about Islam, this time he made sure that his tone was a bit more humble. Not only did he admit his respect for the lightweight champion, but he also admitted that he had to eat his own words a lot of times because of his choice against the Dagistani in fights.
“I think I have a ton of respect for Islam. I stand corrected; I had to enter my foot into my mouth a couple of times. I thought he was gonna lose to numerous guys, but he never did. He is who he is instead of who he was, and I wanna go and compete against him. We will see after I knock Conor out.”

Will Chandler Get a Title Shot If He Finishes Conor?
Well, it’s debatable. The lightweight division is too stacked, as always. Now, apart from Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje, who are already in line for the shot, there is a new flair of talent that came into the top 5, Arman Tsarukyan, who debuted in the UFC against the same lightweight champ and had given him one of his toughest challenges at that time. After his brutal, yet fantastic 1-minute knockout win over Beniel Dariush, the Russian is already in the narrative of being the only one who has a chance of beating Islam Makhachev currently. As the UFC is famous for making fights based on what’s going on in the air, it wouldn’t be surprising for Arman to get a title shot after winning one more fight, possibly against the top 5. So it’s still too early to say Chandler will get a title shot if he beats Conor. But before talking about Islam, he should first concentrate on the Irishman, as his left hand could still knock anyone out.
