MI Emirates Crowned ILT20 2024 Champions: MI Emirates are the champions of the second-ever season of International League T20 after they defeated the Dubai Capitals in the final by 45 runs.

Being played in the Dubai International Stadium, it was the Capitals who won the toss and, in accordance with how the tournament has gone, chose to bowl first. That might have been a mistake on the part of the home side, as they failed to gauge how batting-friendly the surface was gonna be.
The Emirates were off to a flying start, as in-form openers Muhammad Waseem and Kusl Perera established a 77-run partnership. When Waseem was dismissed in the 7th over, Andre Fletcher walked in and kept the momentum going.
While Fletcher did score a 50, when Perera was dismissed the score was 102/2. Then, in walked captain Nicholas Pooran and he stole the show. His incredible innings of 57-off-27 balls took MI Emirates to a final score of 208.
With a massive target ahead of them, the Dubai Capitals were off to a stinking start, losing Leu du Plooy for a duck. They failed to create a meaningful partnership, losing wickets in quick succession.
When DC lost their captain Sam Billings’ wicket at 113 in the 14th over, it looked like all was done for. While Jason Holder and Scott Kugglejin tried to keep the ball rolling in the lower-middle order, the Dubai Capitals could only muster up the score of 163, thus losing the match by 45 runs.
For his incredible half-century, Nicholas Pooran was named the Player of the Match. For scoring 313 runs and taking 13 wickets in the tournament, Dubai Capitals’ Sikandar Raza was named the Player of the Tournament.

MI Emirates’ Fazalhaq Farooqi and Waqar Salamkheil were the highest wicket-takers in ILT20 2024 with 17 wickets a piece, while James Vince of the Gulf Giants was the tournament’s highest run scorer with 356. Although, Pooran wasn’t far behind, scoring 354 runs with an average of 50.57.
