Mayank Yadav Reflects On His India Debut: Pacer Mayank Yadav reflected on his debut for the Indian Cricket Team in the first T20i against Bangladesh and claims that it will forever be the best moment of his life.
The first of three India vs Bangladesh matches was played on Sunday, October 6, in Gwalior’s Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. The match saw the Men in Blue utterly dominate the Bangla Tigers, bowling the visitors out for 127 and chasing the target down within 12 overs.
Yadav broke onto the scene in IPl 2024, playing for the Lucknow Super Giants. While he had played some List A cricket for Delhi on the domestic circuit, IPL was his first introduction in front of the masses. And what an introduction it was, bowling at an average speed of around 150 km/h and regularly throwing at over 155.

However, Mayank played only two full matches in the IPL before getting injured in the third one, returning for another game where he got further injured. However, in the two matches he played, he took two three-wicket hauls, winning the Player of the Match award in both matches, against the Punjab Kings and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Having been picked in the squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh, the 22-year-old made his national team debut as he was picked in the playing XI. Mayank had a fine debut, bowling a maiden in his first-ever international over and then taking the wicket of the veteran batter Mahmudullah.

Following the match, Yadav took to Instagram to share his thoughts about making his national team debut. He posted a picture of himself while celebrating his first international wicket. In the caption, he expressed excitement and gratitude towards the moment and claimed that this was the best moment of his life.
“The best feeling for a cricketer is to play for his country and wearing the blue jersey for me it’s like a dream come true……this will remain the best moment of my life. I’m very grateful for God that he gave me strength and to all the people who helped me in my hard time and supported throughout,” he wrote.
With a maiden in the first over, Mayank Yadav joined Ajit Agarkar and Arshdeep Singh as the third Indian bowler to do so in the first over of his international debut.
Besides the pacer, India had several heroes in the dominant victory. A returning Varun Chakravarthy took three wickets for 31 runs, opener Sanju Samson and skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored 29 runs each, and Hardik Pandya took a wicket and scored a quickfire 39-off-16. But it was Arshdeep Singh who won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant spell of 3/19 and the way he wiped out the Bangladeshi top order.
The second India vs Bangladesh T20I will be played on Wednesday, October 9 in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
