Marcus Stoinis Retired From ODIs: In a shocking move, Australian cricketer Marcus Stoinis announced his retirement from One Day Internationals. The news was brought out by Cricket Australia on February 6. The retirement was despite his addition to the ICC Champions Trophy squad of Australia.

Stoinis, who capped 71 times for his country in ODIs, cited that he will concentrate more on T20 cricket from now on.
“Playing ODI cricket for Australia has been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for every moment I’ve had in the green and gold. Representing my country at the highest level is something I’ll always cherish,” Stonis said.
“This wasn’t an easy decision, but I believe it’s the right time for me to step away from ODIs and fully focus on the next chapter of my career. I’ve got a fantastic relationship with Ron (Andrew McDonald) and I’ve hugely appreciated his support,” he added.

Stoinis debuted in ODI in 2015 and since then the player has amassed 1495 runs and 48 wickets from 71 matches. He was the ODI cricketer of the year in 2018-19 for Australia and also was a part of the 2023 ODI World Cup winning squad.
