Marcus Stoinis On Cricket Australia Contract Snub: Australian allrounder Marcus Stoinis has opened up about his contract status with Cricket Australia following a match-winning top for Lucknow Super Giants.
LSG took on Chennai Super Kings in Match 39 of IPL 2024 in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. While batting first, the home side put up a total of 210/4 on the back of a splendid innings by Shivam Dube and a solid ton by captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
In response, the Super Giants’ top order collapsed but Stoinis grabbed the innings by the hand and ushered it along. He, first with Nicholas Pooran and then with Deepak Hooda, put up great partnerships where the Aussie took charge.
In the end, Stoinis scored his first IPL ton and second in T20s. His 124-off-63 took LSG to a second win in a row against the Super Kings this season.
Marcus hit 13 fours and six sixes during his innings and was immensely helped by quickfire innings by Pooran (34) and Hooda (17).
Stoinis, who seems to have found some form before the T20 World Cup later this year, was not offered a contract by Cricket Australia despite being a known match-winner in white-ball cricket.
