Manchester United Vs Tottenham Hotspur Highlights: In only their second match after former captain Harry Kane moved to German giants Bayern Munich, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur has trounced Manchester United 2-0. In what turned out to be a disastrous outing to London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on August 19, the Red Devils were toothless in front of the opposition’s goal and ineffective while defending theirs. After a hard-fought victory against relegation contender Wolves last week, United came off the blocks quickly. Despite possession being equal in the first half, the was the 13-time Premier League champions who created better chances in the first period of play. A few balls over the bar, a denied penalty, and a missed sitter by captain Bruno Fernandes, all happened in the first 40 minutes with next to no response by the home team. But all that added up to nothing, with the score being 0-0 at half-time.
Right before the break, Antony collected a yellow card for a poor tackle on Yves Bissouma in the 10th minute. This seemed to have turned the tide of the game.

Tottenham started building an attack slowly at the start of the second half. After a lot of passing, Rafael Varane cleared the ball, which was picked up by Pape Sarr, who then scored the first goal of the match in the 49th minute. In the next few minutes, both teams came incredibly close to scoring, but none did. It was then in the 83rd minute, and after an incredible build-up from Spurs yet again, Ben Davies tapped the ball into the United goal. As defender Lisandro Martinez attempted to make a goal-line save, he grazed the ball, hence making it an own-goal.
With the game out of hand, United try peppering the Tottenham box, but to no avail. The game ends 2-0 in favour of the home team.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur Highlights: Post-Match comments
Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag did not make many comments on the loss, just suggesting that the handball in the 27th minute should have been a penalty for his team.
It was United legend and now pundit Roy Keane who tore into his former side, complaining about their lack of effort in getting the ball back after losing it.
“You look at the six players high up the pitch, when you’re out of possession, they’re giving you absolutely nothing. You can almost carry one or two that don’t give you much but can be match-winners, but United are carrying too many players who are not really at it… When I look at Mount and Fernandes, out of possession they look like schoolboys,” Keane told Sky Sports. After a hard-fought victory, Spurs captain Heung-Min Son talked about the importance of this win, he said –
“It was very intense! When you have the ball and these amazing fans it’s joy. To get three points against a big opponent is special. I think there is still room to improve but we are looking forward. First half we were a little unsure, with some mistakes early on. Second half we were unbelievable.” (source: The Guardian)
