Manchester United vs Manchester City Preview: Football gods have smiled upon the fans this weekend. First, we had EL Classico between Real Madrid and Barcelona on Saturday, and now, we will see one of the biggest fixtures in the Premier League calendar, the first Manchester Derby between Manchester United and Manchester City of the 2023-24 season.
Both teams come into the match in very different conditions, but that does not deter from the fact that this is one of the most anticipated matches in a football season. This match, on October 29th, will be played in United’s home ground of Old Trafford
Both sides have played nine matches so far, but are worlds apart on the Premier League table. Manchester City are currently third on the table with 21 points and will be looking to climb to second after winning this contest. While Manchester United are currently right on the table. Despite a recent resurgence in the league, they still only have 15 points in nine matches they have played so far.
Manchester United vs Manchester City Preview
United, under Eric Ten Hag, is a team that seemed to have come off the rails at the start of the season. While former captain Harry Maguire was pushed out of the first team, Jadon Sancho was pushed out of the senior team entirely and is still nowhere to be seen. New signing Andre Onana was also making blunders in front of goal. The team had nine points in seven matches in the Premier League and had one loss and a draw in the Champions League in the first week of October.
But since then, the Red Devils have won two consecutive Premier League matches and have registered their first Champions League, in which Harry Maguire and Andre Onana led the team to victory.

Scott Mctominay has been a revelation for United this season. After years of potential not coming to the surface, the Scotsman is now showing what he is capable of. He has created plays throughout the season and has scored three Premier League goals. He is clearly the best player for the club this season so far.
Other notable performers in this otherwise lackluster season have been – Bruno Fernandes, who is always cooking up attacks for the team; Rasmu Hojlund, who has been fantastic in the Champions League; Casemiro, despite not firing this season, will be the center point of the team’s attack and defense, and Marcus Rashford is itching to find some form, maybe in this match.
On the other hand, City has had a much better start to their season, although it might not be as good as the defending treble winners had hoped. Under manager Pep Guardiola. Despite playing a free form of football, they have lost a couple of LEague matches to the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United. Injury to maestro playmaker Kevin de Bruyne is also a huge blow to the side.
Erling Haaland is arguably the best attacker in the world and a prime contender for the Ballon d’Or. The Norwegian has already scored 9 and assisted 1 goal in 9 matches he has played in the league. His continued form will be crucial for City’s prospects this season.
Phil Foden has risen up to the occasion this season, becoming an effective playmaker in KDB’s absence. Rodri has secretly been one of the best midfielders in the world for the past year, while Jullian Alverez has been a slide strike partner for Haalanad up front. Ruben Dias has been an absolute rock in the defense as usual, and Ederson has commanded the defensive line well.
The Premier League match between Manchester United and Manchester City will be played on October 29, 2023, and the Live broadcast of it will start at 9:00 PM IST. The match, like all Premier League matches this season, can be viewed on the Star Sports Select channels on TV and on the DIsney+ Hotstar app and website on other devices.
