Manchester United Signed Leny Yoro Despite Injury: English club Manchester United has been very busy this summer. One of their biggest signings in this transfer window has been French defender Leny Yoro. It has now emerged that the club signed him despite knowing of his injury.
Yoro, who is just 18 years old, has been a part of French club Lille’s senior team for a couple of seasons. In that time, the centre-back has been sensational. This has prompted a move to England for a reported fee of 52 million euros.

However, Yoro suffered an injury to his metatarsal (foot bones) in a recent friendly with Arsenal and will miss three months of action after undergoing surgery. This might seem like bad timing for United, and it is. But the Red Devils knew what they were getting into.
According to recent reports, Man U had discovered Yoro’s injury while performing their physical before making the signing final. But that didn’t stop them from signing someone who has been one of the best young defenders in Europe.
Leny Yoro was in heavy demand this summer, with multiple clubs bidding for him. The most interesting big came from European champions Real Madrid, who are coming off signing Kylian Mbappe.
However, it seems that the bid from Madrid wasn’t high enough for Lille to consider selling their young prospect. So when Manchester United swooped in with what some might say was an overpriced bid, the French club keenly sold Leny for well over 50 million euros.
As stated earlier, it has been a busy summer at Old Trafford. Manager Erik Ten Hag, whose job was in threat after a difficult 2023-24 season but managed to win the FA Cup, is looking to add new players to crucial positions.

With Harry Maguire being hit-or-miss and Lisandro Martinez having an injury-filled season, United has signed two centre-backs. While we have already talked about Leny Yoro, the club also signed Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich for 38 million Euros plus 5 million in add-ons.
The former Premier League champions have also signed full-back Noussair Mazrouzi from Munich for 15+5 million euros. This is not where it finishes. Seeing how striker Rasmus Hojlund struggled at the start of last season before settling in his role, the club has signed competition for him in the form of Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee for about 40 million euros.
