Man United To Build New 100000 Seater Stadium: Manchester United is going the way other major English clubs have gone in the past and has announced that it will build a new home stadium rather than redeveloping the existing and historic Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester.
With a capacity of over 74000, the Old Trafford is not only one of the biggest stadiums in England, but it is also one of the oldest currently standing stadiums in the world. Constructed in 1910, it has been the home ground of Manchester United since its opening well over a century ago.

The Theatre of Dreams, despite being one of the most popular and well-known stadiums in the world, has been coming under fire in recent years for its “ancient” architecture. Club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe himself has admitted that their home ground has fallen behind the times.
Complaints about broken seats, old infrastructure, and the roof that not only leaks after rains but also allows the water to pour down like a waterfall are just some of the issues with this stadium.
But it is understandable why the Old Trafford is “falling apart.” The century-old stadium has not been renovated in almost 20 years, as the last major renovation happened in 2006. For years, fans have been clamouring for Manchester United, the owners of the Old Trafford, to put big money into the renovation of the stadium, like how Real Madrid and Barcelona brought their home grounds to the modern times in recent years.

However, the club has now announced that rather than renovating the old stadium, a new ground will be built to house the Red Devils. This new stadium will be a part of a wider project, which is expected to inject 7.3 billion euros into the British economy and about 92,000 jobs into the Greater Manchester area.
Club ownership has now brought together a task force featuring former Man United captain Gary Neville and Manchester mayor Andy Burnham. This task force reckons that building the new stadium right beside the current one will be a better option than revitalising Old Trafford.
Not only that, but this new stadium will have a capacity of 100,000, which will make it the biggest stadium in Britain.
United are actually late to the party of big Premier League clubs building new stadiums. Arsenal moved from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium in 2006, while Manchester City moved from the Maine Road Stadium to the Etihad Stadium in 2003. There is also the Tottenham Hotspur, who moved to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from White Hart Lane in 2009. Clubs like Chelsea and Everton are looking to rebuild or construct new stadiums of their own, too.
While the plans have now been announced, it will take a few years for the new stadium in Manchester to be built and for Manchester United to move into it.
