Mahipal Lomror Scores 300 In Ranji Trophy: Rajasthan batting all-rounder Mahipal Lomror scored a triple-century today for his state in a Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match against Uttarakhand and takes his side well past the 600-run mark.
Today was Day Two of the Rajasthan vs Uttarakhand first-class match being played at the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy Ground in Dehradun. It was the home team that won the toss on Day One and decided to bowl first.
Mahipal Lomror Scores 300 In Ranji Trophy
This seemed like the correct decision when opener Abhijeet Tomar was dismissed after scoring 20. But then walked in Lomror to bat, and the complexion of the match changed.
Mahipal, who played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024, took charge of scoring runs for Rajasthan. The next wicket fell was of opener Ram Chouhan at the team score of 108 after Lomror had already reached his 50. While batters on one end kept getting out, the 24-year-old all-rounder stood firm at the other end.
After Mahipal scored his 100, he saw his team fall to 188/4 after Deepak Hooda’s wicket, which brought batter Kartik Sharma to the crease. What followed next was an almost 200-run partnership between Sharma and Lomror.
When Kartik Sharma was dismissed for 113 off 115 balls, the team score was 365/5. On Day Two, wicketkeeper Bharat Sharma scored a fine 50, helping Mahipal Lomror stack up runs. With some solid support from Deepak Chahar and Kukna Ajay Singh, Lomror first reached a double-ton, and then his maiden triple-century in first-class cricket.
Rajasthan declared their inning at a mammoth score of 660/7, virtually confirming that they could not lose this match. The declaration came as soon as Lomror reached the 300-run mark.
This inning has come right in time for the IPL 2025 mega auction and will remind the teams that he is an asset for any franchise that signs him. As stated previously, the young Indian all-rounder played for RCB in IPL 2024. However, he is yet to have his breakout season in the league. In the seven seasons he has played in the biggest T20 league in the world, he has never had a 200+ run season. However, that is mostly because of his limited playing time. In 2024, he scored 125 runs in 10 games at a strike rate of over 183.
The mega auction will be on November 24-25, and Mahipal Lomror will be one of the uncapped domestic players to look out for. He might be signed back by the Royal Challengers or even return to the Rajasthan Royals, where he started his IPL career.
As for the Ranji Trophy match, Uttarakhand ended Day Two with a score of 109/2 and currently trail by 551 runs.
