LSG Owner Seen Talking To Rishabh Pant After Loss: Last night was the first thrilling match of IPL 2024 as the Delhi Capitals defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by one wicket. Following the match, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen in a spirited discussion with team captain Rishabh Pant and head coach Justin Langar. This made the viewers reminisce about a similar occurrence that happened last season.
DC vs LSG was Match 4 of the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League. The match was played in the YSR ACA/VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam as the Capitals won the toss and decided to bowl first.
The Super Giants got off to a brilliant start to their inning, crossing 60 in the powerplay, 110 in the first 10 overs, and 160 in the 14th over. It seemed that they could go as far as scoring 250 runs. However, a brilliant bowling comeback towards the end of the inning restricted LSG to 209/8 in 20 overs.

In response, Delhi got off to a poor start, losing three wickets in the first two overs. Faf du Plessis and captain Axar Patel did bring some stability to this inning but were both in the pavilion in the seventh over. With the score being 65/5, the match seemed all but over. But it was DC’s young middle order that got the job done.
Tristan Stubbs was the first to go on the attack, scoring 34 runs in 22. Impact Player Ashutosh Sharma was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant 31 balls 66 and was the player that took the match home. And finally, the debutant Vipraj Nigam scored 39 runs in just 15 deliveries and played a massive role in his side’s win.
The Delhi Capitals won the match with just one wicket in hand. On the other hand, the Lucknow Super Giants let a win slip from their hands.
Following the match, Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka was spotted in a discussion with the captain, Rishabh Pant, who scored a six-ball duck on his LSG debut, and head coach Justin Langar.

This sparked the memories of similar discussions Goenka had with former LAG captain KL Rahul in 2024 when the team was struggling. May speculate that Goenka ‘scolding’ Rahul was a major reason that the wicketkeeper-batter was not retained by the team for IPL 2025. Many are now questioning whether that would be the fate of Rishabh Pant as well, who became the most expensive player in IPL history when he was bought for Rs. 27 crore by Lucknow in the mega auction.
Well, the season has just started. LSG will face the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match on Thursday, March 27, in Hyderabad.
