Longest Winning Streak In IPL History: Now that IPL has been a thing for over a decade and a half, discussions about best seasons, most wins, and team dynasties naturally come up.
Not only do fans want to know which teams have been the best in the IPL and who has won the most matches in a season, but fans of different teams also want to know what has been the best era of their own team.
A question that relates to legacies and dynasties in the IPL is which team has won the most consecutive matches in IPL history. Besides, what can be a bigger flex for a franchise (apart from winning the league) than to have won the most matches in a row?
So today we answer the question: which team has won the most consecutive matches in the IPL?
To make it into the top eight on this list, a team has to win five matches, which was done by the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) in 2010 and the Gujarat Titans in 2022.
Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians won six matches in a row, both doing so in the 2008 season. And so did Sunrisers Hyderabad, but in 2018.
Now we get into the top three with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings, who won seven matches in a row in 2011 and 2013, respectively.
Longest Winning Streak In IPL History
So, the team with the most successive wins in IPL history and the only win to take their streak into the next season is the Kolkata Knight Riders, who won nine matches in 2014 en route to winning the title that season and then won their first match in 2015 to take their streak to 10.
After winning only two of their first matches in 2014, the team looked out of contention for the playoffs. But after losing to the Rajasthan Royals in their seventh match, this team did not look back.
Their eighth match was a comfortable win against the Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets. The ninth match saw them win over league leaders Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) by a whopping nine wickets, while the tenth match saw them win against defending champions Mumbai Indians by six.
At this point, KKR had a 500 record and was well in the race to the playoffs. The seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad only improved their chances. Match 12 was a repeat of the 2012 final with a similar result, with the Knight Riders winning by eight wickets.
In match 13, KKR defeated the Royal Challengers by 30 runs. To make it seven wins in a row, KKR beat SRH in their last league game by four wickets and finished second in the league with nine wins and 18 points.
This books them a place in Qualifier 1 against league leaders Punjab, and for the second time in the season, the Kolkata-based franchise defeated KXIP, this time while batting first by 28 runs.
KKR then faced Kings XI in the final once again. And despite a brilliant ton by Wriddhiman Saha, the Knight Riders chased down the 200-run target in the last over to clinch the title and win their ninth match in a row.
The 10th and final win of this streak took place in the first match of the 2015 season, as KKR defeated eventual champions the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets. The streak ended in the very next match, as KKR lost to RCB by three wickets.
