Liverpool Wins Their First Game Of The Season: Liverpool commenced the Arne Slot era in fine fashion as the club won their opening game of the 2024/25 Premier League season with a win over Ipswich Town.
This is a season of change for The Reds. That is because, after nine successful seasons, manager Jurgen Klopp decided that he would leave the club at the end of the 2024 season. As his replacement, the Liverpool-based club has brought in Dutch manager Arne Slot to take the helm.
Slot started his managerial career a year after Klopp began his Liverpool stint. For the past three years, the 45-year-old has been managing Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie, winning a league and a cup title one time each.
He is not the first Dutch and bald manager in recent history who came from Eredivisie to manage one of England’s biggest clubs, as former Ajax and current Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag walked the same path.
Despite replacing an iconic manager in club history that is Klopp, Slot has yet to make any new signings. While most fans are worried about the club’s lack of activity in the transfer market, some others believe that they already have a fine squad and the manager just needs to utilize them in a good way to win a few trophies.

With all that in mind, Liverpool kicked off their 2024/25 PL season by taking on newly promoted Ipswich Town in the latter’s home ground of Portman Road.
It was a cagey start to the first half, with the former Premier League Champions pressing continuously while the Ipswich defender put their body on the line to protect the goal. And that is how the half ended, with neither team even creating a genuine chance.
In the second half, The Reds started making some moves. While Trent Alexander-Arnold tried crating some sparks down the flank, strikers Dominik Szoloszlai and Diego Jota created pathways into the box.
In the 60th minute, Mo Salah slipped past the Ipswich back line before putting in a great pass to Jota, who nudged the ball into the back of the net, 1-0.
In the chaos that followed, Liverpool managed to score another goal in the 65th minute. After some neat passing play by the team at the edge of the opposition’s box, Salah slotted the ball into the net. This goal meant that the Egyptian great has now become the PL player with the most goals in opening-day matches with nine in his career. 2-0.
The Reds did make inroads in the latter half of the match. On the other hand, the Ipswich front line didn’t amount to much in this game, which ended with a 2-0 scoreline in favor of Liverpool, who won their opening game of the season and have aspirations of winning the Premier League title once again.
