List of 2023 Arjuna Award Recipients: Several of India’s athletes receive the Arjuna Award at the hands of President Droupadi Murmu. The names include the likes of pace-bowler Mohammed Shami, kabaddi player Pawan Kumar, and silver medallist at the 2023 Asian Games in Wushu – Naorem Roshibina Devi.
The second-highest sports award in India, the Arjuna Award is presented to sportspersons who have represented India at the international level and have been successful in their field.
The ceremony, held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, is usually held on August 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first sports megastar and hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. But it was postponed last year due to the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou being held from September 23 to October 8, and most of these athletes were in training.
