Liam Dawson’s Personal Life
Liam Dawson has an interesting personal connection to football, especially Bury FC, even though he is a cricketer from Hampshire. He is a lifelong Bury fan, and the main reason behind it is his dad, Andy Dawson, who was born in that area.
Liam said he used to go to Bury matches regularly from around the age of seven to twelve, before he joined the Hampshire Academy. He remembers the club from the time when Stan Ternent was manager, with Dean Kiely as goalkeeper and David Pugh playing.
His dad, Andy, was actually born in Manchester, but later lived in the Swindon area for around three decades, which is where Liam was born. Andy Dawson also played youth cricket in the North West and later achieved something big in amateur cricket by winning the National Village Club Championship at Lord’s in 1990 with Wiltshire club Goatacre.
Liam Dawson Contract
In November 2025, Liam Dawson was given a one-year ECB central contract. He was one of three Hampshire players to get ECB deals, along with Sonny Baker (one-year ECB central contract) and Eddie Jack (development contract).
Then, in January 2025, Dawson also signed a new three-year multi-format contract with Hampshire, which keeps him at the Utilita Bowl for another three years.
This Hampshire deal is a big one because Dawson has been a one-club player for a long time. He has played 491 matches for Hampshire across all formats and has won four trophies with the club.
