Lara thinks it tough for Kohli to reach 100 tons: West Indies legend Brian Lara thinks it will be quite tough for Virat Kohli to reach a hundred centuries in international cricket. He put forward several factors that do not favor the contemporary Indian star.
Lara Thinks It Tough For Kohli To Reach 100 Tons
One of the main hindrances Lara thinks would get in the way of Virat is his age. In order to Lara thinks it tough for Kohli to reach 100 tons, As the cricketer is already 35, for him to reach Tendulker’s hundred-hundreds in four years, it would take at least five tons a year. And Lara thinks that’s too ambitious.
“How old is Kohli now? 35, right? He has 80, but still needs 20. If he scores five centuries every year, he’d need four more years to equal Tendulkar. Kohli will be 39 then. Tough job, very tough job,”
Lara spilled to Anandabazar Patrika.
Lara also thinks 20 centuries is a long way up. For him, the people who think it’s duck soup for Kholi to overturn the Master Blaster’s record may not be thinking too logically.
“I can’t say with certainty; no one can. Those saying Kohli will break Tendulkar’s 100-centuries record won’t be taking cricketing logic into account. 20 centuries seem a long way away. Most cricketers can’t score that in their entire career. I won’t be adventurous and say Kohli will do it. Age doesn’t stop for anyone.
As per Lara thinks it tough for Kohli to reach 100 tons, Even though he doesn’t think it will be easier for Virat to break the record of 100 centuries, he has a high opinion of the Indian star.
“Kohli will break many more records, but 100 centuries seems the most difficult one,”
Lara added.
