Lamine Yamal Close To Break Barcelona Record: Young Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal is well on his way to breaking a club record that is currently held by Ansu Fati.
Lamine is currently at the top of the world. Having signed with one of the biggest clubs in the world at the age of 16, he impressed in his debut season at the Catalan club, playing 37 games and scoring five goals in the league.
He then played all the games for Spain in the 2024 Euros, and as the team went undefeated on their way to lifting the cup, Yamal scored a goal and assisted four in the competition. His goal against Turkey was arguably the goal of the tournament.
Winning the Euro just days after turning 17, the young winger is one of the most exciting and sought-after talents in world football. Last season, he impressed with his skills and ability on the ball but could not convert in front of the target. But following the 2024 Euros, it seems that Yamal has found the ability to score goals as well.

In five La Liga matches this season, Lamine has scored three and assisted four goals, which is over half of his goal and assist tally from last season.
With this, Lamine Yamal has reached eight La Liga goals for Barcelona. And with him turning 18 in July 2025, he still has about a whole season before he can score four more and reach the tally of 12 before the age of 18, which will be a club record.
The record for most La Liga goals before the age of 18 is currently held by Ansu Fati, who netted 11 goals before becoming an adult. Fati, who is currently on loan to Brighton in the Premier League, was once the most promising young footballer in the world and was even compared to Lionel Messi when he regularly featured for Barca.

Ansu is currently 21 years old and, in theory, can still bounce back and become one of the best in the world. But the way injuries have derailed his career is very difficult to come back from.
Even so, Ansu Fati currently holds the record for the most La Liga goals for Barcelona before the age of 18, which is a massive deal for a club like Blaugrana. With arguably the best youth academy in the world in La Masia, this club is a factory of world-class young talents, with those who break into the senior team being considered future stars.
With the likes of Lionel Messi and Andreas Iniesta coming through that route, holding the record for the most goals in that class of players is a massive feat, one that Lamine Yamal is closing in on.
