Kuldeep Yadav Slaps Rinku Singh: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) kept their chances of reaching the playoffs well and truly alive when they returned to winning ways with a 14-run victory over the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday evening at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Their last three games had resulted in two losses and one washout, which meant a victory was imperative for Ajinkya Rahane’s team on Tuesday.
Veteran all-rounder Sunil Narine produced a blockbuster all-round performance to deliver a victory for KKR. Narine cracked 27 runs off 16 balls before taking 3/29 in his quota of four overs. Additionally, Narine effected a terrific run-out of KL Rahul with a direct hit. The West Indian bagged the Man of the Match award.
Meanwhile, after the match, DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav playfully slapped KKR batsman Rinku Singh. Twice. This left Rinku irked and unimpressed. Kuldeep has copped criticism from fans for his antics of slapping Rinku in the ground after losing the match.
A video has gone viral on social media involving Kuldeep and Rinku. It is to be noted that both Rinku and Kuldeep are friends and play domestic cricket for the same state, Uttar Pradesh. Yet, this act of Kuldeep is not justified and is indefensible.
In the video, Rinku can be seen laughing while talking with someone else, and when he turns, Kuldeep slaps him in fun. But that slap seems to be harder than perhaps both Rinku and Kuldeep anticipated. This left Rinku with a serious expression as the KKR batter stared directly to Kuldeep, who childishly slapped Rinku again, this time with less power.

Delhi Capitals, who were in great form in the first half of the season, have just lost their momentum and have lost three of their last four matches. Kuldeep Yadav has played a key role in their success this season, having taken 12 wickets in 10 outings so far and maintained a tidy economy of 6.74.
Meanwhile, Rinku Singh, KKR’s new finisher, has had an ordinary season so far. He’s scored 169 runs off 116 balls, managing a strike rate of 145, but is yet to play a blinder of an innings that he’s become famous for.
KKR’s next match is against RR at their home in Kolkata on May 4, while DC will fly to Hyderabad to take on SRH on May 5.
