Kris Shrikanth Wants Virat Kohli In T20 WC Squad: Former Indian cricketer and selector Krishnamachari Srikanth has chimed in with his opinion on the stories emerging about the possibility of Virat Kohli being left out of the T20 World Cup squad, calling them baseless rumors.
A recent report in the English newspaper The Telegraph suggested that the inclusion of Kohli in the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup is not certain. BCCI and the selectors might make a tough decision, including leaving out the greatest batter of this generation.
The report claimed that India not winning any ICC trophies since the 2013 Champion Trophy might be the reason behind the selectors looking to shuffle things up.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Shrikanth refuted these reports as mere rumours, saying –
“No chance. It’s not possible to be without Virat Kohli at the T20 World Cup. He is the one who took us to the semi-finals in T20 World Cup 2022. He was the ‘Man of the Tournament’. Who is saying all this? These rumour-mongers, don’t they have any other job? What is the basis for all this chatter? If India have to win the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli is a must in the squad.”
The report also suggested that the belief of the selectors is that the anchor role Virat Kohli often plays in the T20 side might not be the best approach in a 20-over game. The 35-year-old might have to perform well for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming IPL 2024 to confirm his place in the side.
Kohli has been exceptional for India in ICC tournaments. He was India’s highest run-scorer in the 2022 T20 World Cup. More recently, he scored the most runs in the history of the ICC Cricket World Cup in a single edition for an individual when he scored 765 runs in the 2023 CWC.
Virat will next be seen in action in the opening match of IPL 2024 when RCB will take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings on March 22 in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
