Kohli Will Be the Top Scorer of T20 World Cup 24: Australian cricketer and former captain Steve Smith picks Indian superstar Virat Kohli to lead the run charts of the ICC World Cup 2024.
Smith isn’t wrong in picking Virat Kohli to be the top scorer in the latest edition, as Virat is dominating the scoresheet in the history of the competition with 1141 runs from 27 matches. In fact, the 35-year-old Indian batter even finished as the highest run-getter in the 2022 edition of the tournament, scoring 266 runs with a mind-boggling average of 98.66.
On top of that, Kohli is coming after earning the orange cap, which is given to the top scorer of the Indian Premier League 2024 with 741 runs in 15 matches. Smith thinks Virat will continue this form in the World Cup.
“My top run-getter for this tournament will be Virat Kohli. He is coming off a terrific IPL and he is bringing in some great form and I think he will be the leading run-getter.”

Apart from Steve Smith, former South African player Graeme Smith also picked the Indian batter, along with England’s Jos Buttler, to be the highest run-hunter in the tournament.
“I am going with a top-order batter. Virat Kohli or Jos Buttler,” said Graeme Smith.
India will face Ireland in their first match of the T20 World Cup on June 5. India is included in Group A along with their arch-rivals Pakistan, tournament hosts USA, Ireland, and Canada, USA. The iconic India vs Pakistan match will be at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York on June 9.
