KL Rahul Walks Away From LSG Owner Sanjiv Goenka: KL Rahul completed his “revenge” on Sanjiv Goenka, the Lucknow Super Giants owner, after he finished off a successful run chase with a six, delivering a match-winning half-century and a victory for his new franchise, Delhi Capitals.
More so, Rahul took his personal “revenge” on Goenka when he ignored and walked off while the LSG owner tried to speak to him after a brief handshake. That this happened in the public eye has led the fans to call it a “revenge” and “redemption” for Rahul for the public verbal confrontation he had faced from Goenka last season.
In IPL 2024, when Rahul was leading LSG, Goenka seemed to be intensely questioning and confronting Rahul after LSG’s thumping loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad, when SRH chased down the target of 166 runs in only 9.4 overs to hand Lucknow a demoralising defeat. After the game, Goenka clashed with KL Rahul near the boundary line and looked to have been rebuking him.
LSG failed to reach the playoffs, and Rahul left the franchise. He was bought by DC in the IPL 2025 mega auction and has been doing well for Delhi in the middle order.
On Tuesday evening, he produced a calm and well-paced anchoring knock in a run chase, something we have seen Virat Kohli pull off on numerous occasions in his T20 career. Chasing 160 on a tricky surface in Lucknow, Rahul, batting at No. 3, scored an unbeaten 57 runs off 42 balls, cracking three fours and three sixes in his composed innings.
He finished off the match with a six. After the match, an interesting moment came when KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka shook hands. Goenka tried to say something to Rahul, but the batsman seemed disinterested in what his former boss had to say. Rahul quickly moved forward, while Goenka watched him go with an embarrassing smile.
