KL Rahul Survives Twice In One Over Vs AUS: Indian batter KL Rahul was bested twice in one over by pacer Scott Boland in the ongoing second Australia vs India Test match but survived due to sheer luck.
The second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has kicked off today at the Adelaide Oval. It is a day/night match and thus will be played with a pink ball. These matches in Australia usually see a lot of grass on the pitch as the ball has a tendency to seam.
After a massive win in the first Test for India in the first Test at Perth, the Indian team would be confident going into this match, which is being played after a 10-day break. Skipper Rohit Sharma, along with Shubman Gill and Ravichandran Ashwin, has returned to the playing XI to replace Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, and Washington Sundar.
Sharma won the toss for India and decided to bat first. However, this decision immediately proved not to be a slam dunk, as in-form opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a golden duck by Mitchell Starc on the very first ball of the game.
This prompted Gill to come to the strike. The other opener, like the last game, was KL Rahul, who had a fine game at Perth and showed his ability to be patient and move on from the times he gets bested by the bowler.
While Gill scored some runs from one end, Rahul struggled on the other. By the time the seventh over started, the opener had played 18 deliveries and had not opened his account.

This was the first over for Scott Boland, who replaced an injured Josh Hazelwood in this match. He pitched the ball outside the stump line behind good length. KL Rahul failed to play the ball, nicked it, and was caught behind by keeper Alex Carey.
But as he decided to walk back to the pavilion, the on-field umpire was informed by the third umpire that Boland had overstepped while bowling the ball. And thus, it was a no-ball. This is how Rahul survived that delivery.
On the fifth ball of the over, KL edged the ball once again, and it flew to Usman Khawaja in the slips, who dropped an admittedly challenging catch. And thus, KL Rahul survived twice in the same over due to sheer luck.
Rahul, along with Shubman Gill, is now steadying the ship for India, as this partnership would be crucial for the Men in Blue to get to a big score in the first inning of this second India vs Australia Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
