Karim Benzema to Arsenal: Premier League Giants Arsenal are reportedly eyeing the opportunity to land the Ballon d’Or winner, Karim Benzema, to sharpen their goal-scoring prowess. Gunners are looking for a loan move to launch the forward from his current club, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad.
KARIM BENZEMA TO ARSENAL: LET’S LOOK THROUGH THE LENS
Karim Benzema was one of the star players who joined the Saudi Pro League at the beginning of the season. While the Saudi Arabian venture went well for players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane at Al-Nassr, Benzema’s tenure at Ittihad has been disastrous, as the club, from being the league champions last season, fell to 7th on the table this time. As the legendary striker is reportedly looking for a change, European giants like Chelsea and Arsenal are on the racetrack for him.
WILL BENZEMA DETONATE ARSENAL’S SHOOTING POWER?
Arsenal were well in the competition for the title at the beginning of the competition, competing with Liverpool and City. Don’t get me wrong, they are still in the race, but with a lesser ground to stand on. If you look at the point table, there isn’t much of a difference between second-placed City and the leader, Liverpool, but, when you hold the lens on the current stats, Arsenal could only win once in their last 5 games.
The good thing is that they know exactly what they are lacking, just like the whole world: firepower up front!
Arsenal’s shot-to-goal ratio this season is concerning. To score a goal, they have to shoot 16 times on/off the target. The recent FA Cup 3rd round exit against Liverpool increased the concern of ending a season trophyless again. That the gunners lack a serious amount of gunpowder in their ‘arsenal’, they think that adding a striker who helped Real Madrid win UCL a season before would do that.
