While New Zealand finished second in Group A after wins over Pakistan and Bangladesh and a loss to India, South Africa finished first in Group B.
To open the batting for New Zealand came Rachin Ravindra and Will Young. The two gave their team a decent start before, in the eighth over, Young was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi after scoring 21 runs in 23 deliveries.
From here, Rachin partnered up with Kane Williamson, and the two batted together for a massive partnership. Not only did the two score runs, but they scored them quickly, going at over a run a ball for the entire time they were on the pitch. While the Proteas did create some chances, Rachin and Kane both reached their 50 somewhere between 20 and 30 overs.
Going at a pace to go well beyond 300 runs, the BlackCaps saw Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson near the 200-run mark when the young opening all-rounder completed his 100. After reaching the three-digit mark, Ravindra scored a couple of boundaries before falling to Kagiso Rabada. The score at this point was 212/2 in the 34th over.

From this point on, Kane Williamson took charge and started scoring quick runs. Soon, he would reach his 100 in just 91 deliveries, reaching the milestone in style with a boundary off a scoop over the wicketkeeper’s head.
With Williamson’s tonne, New Zealand has also crossed the 250-run mark before the 40th over ended. They can now realistically look towards a total of around 350 runs.
However, New Zealand will have to reach there without Williamson. As soon as he reached his hundred, the veteran batter looked to score some more runs quickly. When looking to hit another scoop, this time off Wiaan Mulder, he was caught at fine leg by Lungi Ngidi, getting out for 102 off 94 deliveries.
This NZ Vs SA match is a tight one, and the winner of this game will face India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai on March 9.
