Kagiso Rabada Returns To South Africa: The Gujarat Titans (GT) fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has left the squad and flown back to South Africa, and there is no certainty of his comeback date.
GT confirmed this news through a brief statement on Thursday, a day after their win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the game which Rabada missed.
During the toss in the RCB vs GT match, GT skipper Shubman Gill said that Rabada “misses out due to personal reasons”. Interestingly, in Rabada’s absence, GT brought in left-arm uncapped Indian pacer Arshad Khan, who struck with the wicket of Virat Kohli in his first over.
Why has Kagiso Rabada Returns to South Africa? Will he play further in IPL 2025?
In their statement, the Gujarat Titans said that Kagiso Rabada “has returned to South Africa to deal with an important personal matter”. There is no confirmation yet about when, and if, he will return to the IPL 2025.
Rabada played in GT’s first two games of the season, against Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, returning with figures of 1/41 and 1/42, and missed their third match on Wednesday against RCB.

GT started their campaign with a loss to Punjab but bounced back with wins over MI and RCB. It was Mohammed Siraj whose return to the Chinnaswamy in a new jersey brought dividends to GT.
Siraj took 3 wickets for 19 runs in his four overs and dented RCB both with the new ball and the older ball. While Rashid Khan had a poor night, returning with figures of 0/54, the likes of Sai Kishore, Ishant Sharma, and Prasidh Krishna bowled impressively.
In the chase of 170, Sai Sudharsan scored 49, while Jos Buttler smashed 73* off 39 balls to take GT over the line in 17.5 overs.
Meanwhile, on their bench, GT have overseas players Glenn Phillips and Gerald Coetzee to utilize, although Coetzee’s fitness status is apparently under a cloud at the moment.
Gujarat’s next game is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 6 in Hyderabad. They then fly to their home in Ahmedabad, where they will host Rajasthan Royals on March 9.
